01 Apr Semi Permanent Makeup – What’s it all about?
Are you new to the world of semi permanent makeup and wondering what it’s all about? Well you’ve certainly come to the right place! Here I’ve answered your most frequently asked questions about the treatment, so you can get a better idea of what’s involved.
What is Semi Permanent Makeup?
Basically, semi permanent makeup is a type of temporary cosmetic tattooing. It’s also referred to as ‘micropigmentation’ and can be used on a number of areas, such as the eyelids, brows and lips. Here at the salon I use a state of the art digital machine to carry out the treatment and achieve beautiful results for my clients.
What are the different types of Semi Permanent Makeup?
Here’s a quick rundown of the semi permanent makeup treatments I offer at the salon:
Brow shading
Sparse eyebrows? Oily skin? Forever pencilling in your brows, only to smudge them an hour later?
All great reasons to choose semi permanent brows.
Basically, the process involves tattooing extremely fine hair strokes onto your brow area, to create your desired shape and colour. It’s great for creating the illusion of fuller brows, which are really in right now.
Oh and forget having to pencil your eyebrows in every morning. You’ll wake up ready!
Lip colour
Do you want to create the illusion of fuller lips? Have you got slightly uneven lips that you’d like to correct? Semi permanent lip colour will do just that. I have a full range of shades for you to choose from, including natural nudes, pink blush shades and even bold and bright reds. You can opt for a simple lip liner or go all out with full colour. The choice is yours!
Eyeliner
Many people have a love / hate relationship with eyeliner. Why? It enhances the eyes beautifully but is just so hard to get right! If you’re fed up of spending too much time perfecting your stroke or having smudged eyeliner ruin your look, semi permanent eyeliner will be a much-welcomed solution. Using semi permanent liner, applied as close as possible to your natural lash line, I can help you achieve thicker, fuller lashes. The pigment dots are so tiny that it will look completely natural and can be tailored to the exact shape of your eyes.
What are the benefits of semi permanent makeup?
There are a number of reasons why people choose semi permanent makeup. For some, it comes down to convenience. If you are super busy but enjoy wearing makeup, micropigmentation allows you to achieve a ‘put together’ look without having to do it yourself every morning!
Other people choose semi permanent makeup because they are sensitive to traditional makeup and find it irritates their skin. And some people find it is the best way to help them achieve a desired look, for example thicker, more shapely brows or fuller looking lips. It’s also great for combating signs of ageing.
You don’t even need a reason to choose semi permanent makeup! If it’s just something you want to try, that’s good enough for me.
Does micropigmentation hurt?
This is always a hard question to answer, as no two people are the same. We all have different pain thresholds and find different things uncomfortable. What I will say is that I take every measure to ensure you are comfortable and pain-free during the application process. This includes using a numbing cream on the area of application, so you should feel very little, if anything at all!
Like with any cosmetic treatment, there is a little aftercare involved with semi permanent makeup. This involves keeping the area clean and dry and using a cream, which I will give you to take home. I always go through the aftercare steps with clients at their appointment but if you’re interested in finding out more, there’s more information about semi permanent makeup aftercare here.
