Dermal Fillers

PERFECTLY IMPERFECT

ENHANCING YOUR NATURAL BEAUTY

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler Injections are becoming increasingly popular. Here at Becky Laroc Beauty & Aesthetics we focus on the more natural look. Enhancing your own beautiful features and tweaking an area here or there.

As our skin ages, the dermis gradually loses its major constituents: collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. All these elements are essential to maintain a younger looking skin: Collagen acts as the major support protein for our skin, while elastin allows our skin to stay firm and resist wrinkles. Meanwhile, hyaluronic acid helps to trap water and add volume and shape to our skin.

  • Fuller lips
  • Smoother smile lines
  • Little to no downtime
  • Visible results immediately
  • Minimal swelling and/or bruising

So what are Dermal Fillers?

As our skin ages, the dermis gradually loses its major constituents: collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. All these elements are essential to maintain that youthful looking skin we all crave.

Collagen acts as the major support protein for our skin, while elastin allows our skin to stay firm and resist wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid helps to trap water/moisture and add volume and shape to our skin.

Injectable dermal fillers can last between 6-12 months depending on the filler being used. I work with a few brands including Revolax, and Extra.

How the process works

All dermal fillers require our clients attend a compulsory free consultation at least 48 Hours prior to an appointment.  This can be achieved in-person or via video-call.

At your in-person consultation you will be asked to fill out a written form for our records.  If you opt for a video-call consultation, you will be asked to fill out a written form when you attend your appointment, before your treatment begins.

After completing your consultation the specialist method Becky has been taught by The Skin Injectors, causes minimal discomfort, as a result we do not use numbing creams prior to applying the filler.

Generally these are of no use as they only numb the epidermis (top layer of the skin) and we are injecting into the dermis.

Treatment time takes approx 30 minutes. You can apply ice or a cold compress once you’ve left to ease any swelling and reduce any discomfort.

The area may look a little swollen after application but this generally eases within the first 24-48hours although in some cases this can last up to two weeks.

In particular with lips as the area is very vascular bruising is also a possibility.

Who can’t have this treatment?

  • Allergies or known intolerant reactions to hyaluronic acid or mannitol.
  • Those taking certain medications, including antibiotics and chemotherapy.
  • Skin inflammation
  • Those who are susceptible to hypertrophic / keloid scarring.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women.

      Aftercare

  • Avoid touching the treated area or applying with products for 6 hours following treatment. After this you may clean your skin with water and a gentle cleanser.
  • Do not massage the area after treatment.
  • Until the initial swelling and redness has resolved please do not expose the area to intense heat.
  • Avoid pressure on the treated areas for the first few nights (i.e. sleep on back of possible)
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
  • Do not use AHA, Retinols/Vitamin C therapy or oil based make-up for 24 hours

Frequently Asked Questions?

What does the treatment entail?

Once we have completed your full consultation, if necessary a topical numbing cream will be applied. We will have discussed your needs and want and the options available to you will have been explained.

A number of small injections will be made to the requested area and filler applied.

How long is the appointment?

The average filler appointment is 30 minutes

Cheek/Nasolabials & Marionettes 45 minutes

What results can I expect?

Depending on the area treated you should notice a difference in appearance immediately. In some cases, especially with lips they may appear a bit swollen and bruised.

Does it hurt?

Some mild discomfort may occur during treatment application due to the nature of this being an injectable treatment. Although discomfort is generally minimal, we can use a numbing cream to help with pain management should this be required. (PLEASE NOTE that if you have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified.)

Is there any downtime?

There may be redness, bruising and swelling that could last 3-5 days. You can take over-the-counter painkillers but are advised not to take anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen.

Use a cold compress and take arnica to help speed up the recovery process.

How many treatments will I need?

Generally only one session is required – fillers last between 6-12 months.
