The treatment of thread veins and spider veins
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a chemical solution directly into the thread or spider vein. The solution causes the vein walls to swell, stick together and seal shut, stopping the flow of blood. As a result, the vein fades within a few weeks. Please note this treatment is for the thigh to ankle area only. If you have small thread or spider veins on your face you can book IPL or Electrocautery.
What are the difference between varicose veins or thread veins?
Varicose veins are large, raised swollen blue looking blood vessels that twist and turn. They usually develop in the legs and can be seen through the skin.
Thread veins are smaller, red and purple vessels that are also twisted and turning. Spider veins are easily visible through the skin as well. They are most often seen on the legs, chest or face.
At your appointment a full consultation will take place to ensure this is the best treatment for you.
The area will be checked to see if this treatment would be suitable for your particular veins. and we would arrange a video consult with our Doctor to obtain your prescription.

For your first time including your consultation your appointment will be approx 30 minutes.
You can expect it to take approx 1-2 weeks before you start to see a difference in the appearance of the vein.
Typically 3-6 treatments will be required to achieve your desired result, but this will be discussed in your pre-treatment consultation along with your expectations. Some clients may only need 1 treatment but we cannot guarantee this as the rate of response differs between clients.
Some mild discomfort may occur during treatment application due to the nature of this being an injectable treatment. Although discomfort is generally minimal. (PLEASE NOTE that if you have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified.)
There may be redness, bruising and swelling that could last 3-5 days. High compression stockings are recommended to be worn for up to three days to reduce the amount of bruising. It is best to leave a two week period between treatments on the same area to allow bruising to settle.
Approx 3-6 sessions depending on the vein
