Why autumn is the perfect time for skin peels in Bromley
Ever wondered, when is the best time to book a skin peel? It’s autumn! Yes, the autumn / winter months are the optimal time to do a little maintenance on your gorgeous skin for the ultimate glow-up. If you’re in Bromley, and have been thinking about chemical peels or resurfacers, now is the time to start prepping your skin for treatment.
But why do we wait until this time of year for skin peels? Let’s break it down…
Why skin peels aren’t a summer thing…
Skin peels are all about renewal. Resurfacers exfoliate the top layer of skin (and chemical peels amp it up a level) revealing a fresher, brighter complexion. The catch? Your skin becomes a little more sensitive to the sun post-treatment. In summer, with long, hot sunny days and higher UV exposure, that can increase the risk of skin damage and pigmentation.
That’s why autumn is ideal for skin peels. The sun is gentler, and you’re less likely to be outdoors all day. Starting your resurfacer or chemical peel journey in October also means you can enjoy incredible results just in time for the festive season!
Chemical peels vs. resurfacers - what’s the difference?
This is a question we get all the time! Both skin peel treatments aim to refresh your skin, but they work at different levels.
Resurfacers - Think of these as a gentle introduction to peels. They use milder exfoliating acids and advanced ingredients to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores while smoothing and brightening the surface of the skin. Resurfacers are perfect if you’re new to peels or want visible results without significant downtime.
Our range of Dermaquest resurfacers are just £70 for a 45 minute treatment. They’re great for targeting uneven texture, dullness, or early signs of ageing.
Chemical peels - These advanced skin treatments use professionally formulated acids to exfoliate the skin; encouraging cell renewal, boosting collagen production, and improving overall texture and tone. Unlike ‘at-home’ skin peel treatments, professional chemical peels provide predictable, consistent results with minimal irritation.
At our Bromley skin clinic, we customise chemical peels to your skin type and individual concerns, such as reducing fine lines, tackling pigmentation or managing acne. Treatments cost £115 for 30 minutes.
Prepping for a skin peel
Here’s where a little forward planning pays off. If you’re thinking about booking a chemical peel or resurfacer facial in Bromley, it’s important to prepare your skin for the treatment. Our award-winning aesthetics practitioner, Becky, explains it best:
“Prepping is essential for safe and effective results. For lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick types 1–3), I recommend starting two weeks before your peel by using a hyaluronic acid serum daily to keep the skin hydrated, and SPF every single day. For darker skin tones (types 4–6), we need a little more time – about four weeks of prep. Along with hyaluronic acid and SPF, I also suggest adding a tyrosinase inhibitor, such as niacinamide, or our go-to choice – Melaquest Serum by Dermaquest. This helps reduce the risk of pigmentation and ensures your skin responds beautifully to the treatment.”
Following these steps means your skin will be in its best condition to achieve maximum results from the peel. Still need a little help? Don’t worry, we’ll talk you through how to prepare for skin peel during your free consultation & patch test!
